OBX Jeep Rentals: 4x4 Jeeps & Beach-Ready SUVs for the Outer Banks
We’re OBX Jeep Rentals, run by Beach4x4 LLC, a family-run rental company in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. We rent beach-ready Jeep Wranglers, Jeep Gladiators, and 8-passenger SUVs that you drive yourself on the Outer Banks beaches where 4x4s are allowed — Corolla and Carova to the north, Cape Hatteras and Ocracoke to the south. Every vehicle leaves our lot with both beach driving permits and recovery gear already in it. You pick up, air down, and go.
Rental Rates
We keep pricing simple, and the same rates apply to every vehicle in the fleet:
- Weekly rental: $1,338 flat for the week — any 4x4 in the fleet
- 3–6 day rental: $200 per day
- 2-day rental: $225 per day
- 1-day rental: $300 — non-refundable, and reservations open 2 days before your pickup date

The Fleet
Four models, all beach-ready, all pre-permitted:
- Jeep Wrangler — the classic open-air way to drive the beach, seating five
- Jeep Gladiator — Wrangler capability with a pickup bed for coolers, rods, and gear
- Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX80 — full-size SUVs with 3-row seating for up to 8 passengers
Groups and Multiple Vehicles
This is where we can help in a way most rental companies can’t. If your whole crew is heading to the beach — a three-generation family week, a group of surf fishermen, a wedding party spread across several rental houses — one Jeep usually isn’t enough. Our 8-passenger Armada and QX80 SUVs let one driver take the entire family up the beach together, and because our weekly rate is a flat $1,338 for any vehicle, booking two or three 4x4s for the same week is simple to price out. Tell us your dates and how many seats you need, and we’ll set up the right combination of vehicles for your group.
What’s Included
- Both beach driving permits — Corolla and the Cape Hatteras ORV permit — already on the vehicle
- Recovery gear in every rental
- Free parking for your own car at our Kill Devil Hills lot while you’re out
- Dogs of all sizes ride free — no pet fees
- Debit card renters accepted
- Coolers, beach chairs, and fishing rod racks available for your trip
- Beach driving is the whole point here. We encourage it — there’s no fine print prohibiting you from taking the vehicle on the sand, unlike the national rental chains
Where You Can Drive
Corolla and Carova — north of where the pavement ends in Corolla, the beach itself becomes the road, running through the 4x4 communities to Carova near the Virginia line. The wild horses live on these beaches too — keep your distance and give them the right of way.
Cape Hatteras and Ocracoke — the Cape Hatteras National Seashore has designated off-road vehicle ramps along the southern beaches, and Ocracoke Island’s beaches are reachable by ferry from Hatteras.

How Booking Works
- Pick your dates and reserve your vehicle
- Email proof of full-coverage personal auto insurance to bret@beach4x4.com
- Pick up at our lot at 2101 Colington Rd in Kill Devil Hills — we’re open 7 days a week, 7 AM to 8 PM for reservation holders
- Leave your car with us for free and head for the sand with the permits and gear already in the vehicle

Cancellation Policy
Cancel seven or more days before your pickup date for a full refund. Cancellations inside seven days are subject to a $225 fee. For dangerous weather, full refunds are issued on multi-day rentals — just contact us. One-day rentals are non-refundable.
